Our Aims Are

  • To provide a high quality service to people who are in recovery primarily from alcohol and secondary drug use through the 12 step model.
  • To develop support to recovering alcoholics, their family members and friends.
  • To further development for service users in order for them to gain a full, enjoyable and active life within recovery through self knowledge, personal development, training, volunteer opportunities, education, training and employment.
  • To work in partnership with other organisations in order to provide a full and holistic care plan to clients, or referral on to other agencies that may be more appropriate for their needs.
  • To provide information about alcoholism and surrounding issues in order to raise awareness to individuals, professionals and other organisations.

The Sanctuary offer's care plans tailored to the needs of the individual.  We provide:

  • Educational groups such as the "Big Book Educational Group".
  • 12 Step Discussion Groups.
  • Co-dependency Groups.
  • One to One Counselling.
  • Group Counselling.
  • Workshops on Stress and Relaxation.
  • Loss and Bereavement Workshops.
  • Relapse Prevention Workshops.
  • Professional training and workshops to outside agencies who wish to know more about alcoholism and addiction.
  • Family and Friends Groups.

We also offer other groups at the request of the client if we have the staffing and resources to do this. We are staffed by an experienced and dedicated group of people including paid staff, volunteers, placement students, and two short-term intervention counsellors. The group work is focussed on educating in the 12 Step Programme of Recovery, leading people towards an enjoyable and alcohol free life.
